“Jake and I met in high school (Lakeville North High School). We started hanging out in the same friends group the start of senior year and had some classes together. I really liked him and was super excited when he asked me to senior prom! We started dating the next day.. how’s that for cliche? ““We love road trips, going to music concerts and attending/watching sporting events. Jake is a big Minnesota Golden Gophers fan and I am a big Ohio State Buckeye fan so we have a lot of fun with college football. When the weather is nice we love camping (Jake even spent a couple nights camping at Penninsula State Park in the day leading up to the wedding), and biking. We are always up to try new restaurants and have really loved exploring and becoming familiar with Milwaukee. We started living together here (in an apartment the size of a closet I might add), got engaged here, and now are starting our married life here! It has really been a special place to continue to grow in love.” “Jake had bought tickets to Black Swan at the Marcus Center for my birthday. The tickets were on the same day that we had started dating 6 years previously! We went out for a nice dinner at Molly Cools Seafood downtown and then started walking along the Milwaukee River towards the theater. We stopped on a bridge and were watching some boats go by. I was jokingly teasing him about something and he said “well, now is as good of a time as any other” and got on a knee and asked if I would marry him! He slipped the ring on popped back up and we kept walking. It happened so fast that throughout the play and the next morning I kept looking at my finger and thinking, did that really happen?! It was very casual, kind of goofy and awkward, but 100% Jake. I wouldn’t have wanted to any other way :)”“The wedding day was hands down the best day of our entire lives. Thinking about our friends and family who all traveled long distances to be under one roof and celebrate with us still leaves me speechless and I know the memories will warm my heart for the rest of my life. Many people told us it goes fast and is a blur, but we both agree that we were able to be present and in the moment for the entire day, which we are very happy about. Every single part of the day was perfect, including the rain! We choose Door County simply because it is just stunningly beautiful, almost magical. We are outdoorsy people and wanted nature and Lake Michigan to be a part of the environment, and also wanted families who were traveling to make a little family vacation out of the wedding weekend, exploring and sight seeing and discovering the beauties of the peninsula.”
