“Living slowly. This has been a way of life for our family. We raise our daughters to love the Lord and to find happiness herein God’s world. Time is our greatest asset and we strive to use it wisely, together. In an age where busyness can overtake many, we did not feel compelled to follow suit. Titles, accolades, and checklists are not our priorities …we made a conscientious decision to live in the moment, to love, and to appreciate the beauty of this life.

We live a life of contentment and find that grace, both natural and spiritual, brings a calmness to our home. We are sure to always notice the glory around us…the warmth of a mother’s embrace, the strength in a father’s hands, and the love in the eyes between sisters.”

First of all, it was such a joy to capture this baby girl and her family in their home. You all know that I love babies hence it is difficult for me to not love both studio and in home lifestyle sessions, but there really is something to be said for capturing baby in their own space.  Providing a bit of a studio look at some point during the lifestyle session with a prop shot for baby is always a goal as well. Therefore, another perk of planning a lifestyle session is that baby does not need to be captured during that tiny window ~ having  open eyes in the photos is actually preferred.

Can you get over all that hair? I have not! My kiddos all had tons of hair, our youngest even had a little clip in her hair for her newborn shoot~ gotta love that! Also, Frankie the family’s Boston Terrier, what a guy! He was in on a lot of the action throughout our time together. He stole my heart immediately, I love all of the bull dog breeds but I love Bostons~ they make a  great family pet and we sure love ours as well!

Finally, Don’t forget to schedule your in-home lifestyle newborn session today! In addition, It is always best to assure a space on the calendar rather than attempting to book a session after baby is born. Ask about the current newborn session discounts available.

Cam will be a graduate with the Southern Door Class of 2018. Cameron is such a fun guy to be around and he took his model session in stride~ so easy to get a little laugh or big smile out of this guy. He brought with him some really fun shirts that really speak to his personality. Being true to yourself for your session is so important and will evoke great memories later in life when looking back on the images. Cameron is very involved in the arts. He participates in forensics, school musicals and plays, chorus and solo ensemble which this year brought him a nomination as a exemplary soloist~ huge accomplishment! I’ve even seen a few of his Youtube videos~ so much fun and talent! I’m confident that he will be quite successful in some area of theatre, film etc. I even ran into Cam while capturing the end of year party for the Southern Door Chapter for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Door County~ stand up guy! I’m sure Mom and Dad are proud 🙂 Enjoying summer playing some golf, working a bit and preparing for Senior year are just a few things on his long list at the moment I’m sure.

Cam was able to finish his night out just after the lights came on at the Egg Harbor Marina creating some additional fun light to play with. I’m looking forward to more fun shirts and Cam’s silly and smiley demeanor during our Regular Full Door County Senior Experience later this month.

Brooke will be heading into school in fall as a Door County High School Senior graduating from Sevastopol High School in the spring of 2018. A couple of her favorite things are softball and spending time at some of our beautiful Door County Beaches~ who doesn’t love hanging out on the amazing beaches of Door County! One of my favorite things as well 🙂 Those beaches and waterways are a favorite location for about 85% of my session holders. Be it Cave Point County Park, which is definitely the most requested, a private beach lakeside or catching the amazing colors in the sky just after sunset~ the perfect way to remember this fantastic place you grew up in or have vacationed in.

Wilke Furbaby Part Two | Tilly

As promised here is the second half to the Wilke family’s fur baby session. Here is Tilly, their six week young baby Basset Hound.  As soon as I heard that there was even a possibility that they were adding a new member to the family I mentioned that I would love to capture baby. Once I received confirmation we arranged a time to get her into the studio shortly after they had picked her up. I guess that Mom and Dad really surprised the kiddos, pulled them out of school and headed out of Door County. The kids thought perhaps they were on their way to a sunny destination for spring break. Even when they arrived at the airport they had no idea. I wish I had been along on that journey~ can you imagine the looks on their faces when that crate containing Tilly was delivered to them? The joy and love that must have filled all of their hearts upon meeting her.  She is is soooo sweet. She’s the perfect fit for them.

Tilly was the best girl for her newborn session 🙂 She let me wrap her up just like I typically do with any newborn and pose her. She slept better than some of my human newborns do! I was so tickled to be able to pose her in some of the ways that I did! She is sooooooo yummy and I sure hope to be asked to puppy sit soon!

Child Photographer

I have not been able to really know how to write this blogpost, or if to even post and share this photo session with everyone. It has been three months since I asked my dear friend if she would be interested in me capturing their fur baby Louise, to be the face of my February promotion where I was to be offering up a special to my pet owning and loving clients. Laney and Louise came in one evening that month for their session together. The following morning I shared with my followers the pet promotion. Just a couple nights later I received a call that Louise had unexpectedly passed away. She was a young, sweet basset hound but even more so she was a dear family member. I remember my girlfriend referring to her by the name Sissy to her daughter during our session together. I knew that they were in shock and devastated.  I’ve been there myself a few times before~ perhaps slightly different circumstances but when you loose a fur baby it takes time just like anything to begin the healing process. There is no way to ever fill the heart with another as each pet will  occupy a special space there forever! The memories shared are forever treasured as well.I’m so glad that we were able to capture Louise and that the family will have these images of her for always.

I took some time playing in my new studio space with their middle child as well as I just cannot help myself with children. Since I had Laney here to take a few with Louise I just had to snap a few of just her. The camera just eats up this girl and it helps that  she doesn’t mind being in front of it either. She had ideas of her own and as long as I get to do a few of my to do’s I take no issue letting kiddos pose and run with their ideas as well~ keeps everyone happy 🙂

Stand by as this fursissy story continues with part two coming to the blog shortly…

Lewins Late Autumn Intimate Wedding

I was tickled to be contacted late last summer early fall to capture the intimate wedding ceremony of an old family friend. The bride, Melanie, who had as a teenager, spent a summer as my two younger siblings summer babysitter. Melanie’s  father was our family photographer capturing family photos throughout the years along with all of my grade school photos and high school senior photos and our wedding ceremony photos! No pressure! 😉  It was the perfect fit as I had as of that past year begun capturing only smaller short hour weddings as the bride and groom needed just a few hours of coverage so that Dad could of course be in the photos during the ceremony. This intimate wedding took place in the historic 1851 Moravian Church on the Heritage Hill grounds in Green Bay http://heritagehillgb.org/weddings/  It was also fun to run into some folks/old friends that I hadn’t seen in probably two decades!

I really enjoy watching two families becoming one. The Groom, Jeff, had a grandson that was so excited to be included as the ring bearer. His smile lit up the entire church once his deed had been completed~ soooooo cute! The ceremony was short and sweet and afterwards we headed out for some portraits by the church as well as a few across the field in front of another historic building. The air was crisp so we worked quickly to capture a few more of the new couple before they headed out to their reception.

Congrats again to both Jeff and Melanie & their families!

Love,

Cassie & Adrienne
